Method
 

Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and chopped shallot; sauté for about 2–3 minutes until fragrant and golden.
  2. Add ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart while cooking. Sauté for 5–7 minutes until browned.
  3. Stir in soy sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and chili flakes. Cook for 2–3 minutes until glossy.
  4. Remove from heat, mix in lime juice and chopped Thai basil. Let cool for 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare a shallow bowl of warm water for soaking the rice paper. Set up a workspace with rolling ingredients.
  6. Dip a rice paper wrapper into warm water for 5–10 seconds until slightly softened. Lay it flat.
  7. Position a small amount of beef filling near the bottom of the rice paper. Add optional vegetables and herbs.
  8. Fold the bottom of the rice paper up over the filling. Tuck the sides in and roll from bottom to top.
  9. Slice the assembled rolls in half for presentation. Serve with the dipping sauce.
