Ingredients
  

For the Filling
  • 1 pound Ground Beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1/2 head Cabbage Use fresh cabbage for best texture.
For the Flavor
  • 1 tablespoon Sesame Oil Can use vegetable oil as a substitute.
  • 2 cloves Garlic (minced) Fresh garlic recommended.
  • 1 tablespoon Ginger (minced) Stick with fresh ginger for better flavor.
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes Adjust to taste, or omit if desired.
For the Sauce
  • 1/4 cup Brown Sugar Swerve Low-carb sweetener.
  • 1/4 cup Soy Sauce (low-sodium) Tamari can be used for gluten-free.
  • 1 tablespoon Hoisin Sauce Homemade mixture can be substituted.
  • 1/2 cup Beef Broth Chicken broth can also be used.
For Thickening
  • 1 tablespoon Cornstarch Can substitute with xanthan gum.
For Garnish
  • 1/4 cup Green Onions (diced) Chives can be used as a substitute.
  • Sesame Seeds (optional) Skip if not available.

Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Chop half a head of fresh cabbage into bite-sized pieces and set aside.
  2. Heat sesame oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add in ground beef and cook for 5-7 minutes till browned.
  3. Push beef to one side, add minced garlic and ginger, and stir for 1-2 minutes.
  4. Add the chopped cabbage and red pepper flakes, cooking for an additional 5 minutes.
  5. Prepare the sauce by mixing soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and brown sugar Swerve. In another bowl, mix cornstarch with beef broth.
  6. Pour sauce over beef and cabbage, stirring until well-coated. Cook for 2-3 minutes until sauce thickens.
  7. Stir in diced green onions and cook for another minute.
  8. Serve with optional sesame seeds sprinkled on top.
