Ingredients

For the Chips
  • 12 pieces Wonton Wrappers Cut into triangles
For the Toppings
  • 1 lb Ground Italian Pork Sausage Turkey sausage can be used as an alternative
  • 5 oz Pepperoni Can substitute with salami
  • 1 cup Shredded Mozzarella Cheese Low-fat mozzarella works as well
  • 1 cup Shredded Pepper Jack Cheese Mild cheddar can be used instead
  • 1/2 cup Pepperoncini or Banana Peppers Optional
For Serving
  • 1 cup Marinara Sauce Homemade or store-bought
  • 1 cup Vegetable or Canola Oil For frying; olive oil is a healthier substitute

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • baking sheet
  • Pan

Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a medium skillet, heat the pan over medium-high heat and add the ground Italian sausage. Cook for about 8 minutes until browned, then remove from heat and set aside.
  2. Cut the wonton wrappers diagonally into triangles. Heat about 1 inch of vegetable or canola oil in a separate pan over medium-high heat. Add the wonton triangles in small batches, frying for about 2 minutes on each side until golden and crispy.
  3. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). On a baking sheet, layer the crispy wonton chips, then distribute the cooked sausage, pepperoni, and pepperoncini. Top with shredded pepper jack and mozzarella cheeses.
  4. Bake in the preheated oven for about 5 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbling. Monitor to prevent the chips from browning too much.
  5. Let the nachos cool for a minute before serving with marinara sauce for dipping.
