Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your 9x5-inch loaf pan thoroughly with baking spray.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter, vegetable oil, brown sugar, eggs, water, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth and creamy.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix together flour, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, and cloves. Stir until evenly combined.
  4. Gently add the dry mixture to the wet mixture, folding until just combined.
  5. Peel and slice ripe pears into ¼-inch thick slices. Fold them into the batter or arrange on top.
  6. Transfer the batter into the loaf pan, smoothing the top with a spatula. Arrange any reserved pear slices on top if desired.
  7. Sprinkle rolled oats on top if desired and bake for 40-45 minutes, checking for doneness with a toothpick.
