  • 8 ounces Dark Chocolate or semi-sweet chocolate
  • 1/2 cup Unsalted Butter or margarine
  • 1 cup Granulated Sugar or brown sugar
  • 2 large Eggs or flax eggs for vegan option
  • 1 cup All-Purpose Flour or gluten-free flour blend
Tiramisu Layer
  • 8 ounces Mascarpone Cheese or cream cheese
  • 1/2 cup Powdered Sugar or agave syrup
  • 2 tablespoons Espresso Powder or finely ground coffee
  • 1 teaspoon Vanilla Extract omit if desired
Topping
  • 2 tablespoons Cocoa Powder for sprinkling

Method
 

Prepare Brownie Base
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Melt dark chocolate and unsalted butter together over low heat until smooth. Stir in granulated sugar, then add eggs one by one, beating after each addition. Fold in flour until no dry streaks remain.
Bake Brownies
  1. Pour the brownie mixture into a greased baking pan and spread it evenly. Bake for about 30 minutes, until edges are set and a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs. Let cool completely.
Make the Tiramisu Layer
  1. In a bowl, combine mascarpone cheese, powdered sugar, espresso powder, and vanilla extract. Beat on medium speed until smooth and fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
Assemble
  1. Spread the tiramisu layer over the cooled brownies evenly. Cover with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
Serve
  1. Dust the top with cocoa powder. Slice using a hot, clean knife for neat layers.
