Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 325°F (163°C).
- In a mixing bowl, combine chocolate cookie crumbs, melted unsalted butter, and granulated sugar until resembling wet sand. Press into a 9-inch springform pan and bake for 10 minutes. Allow to cool.
- In a large bowl, beat softened cream cheese until smooth. Gradually mix in sugar, sour cream, and vanilla until combined. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.
- Gently sift in cocoa powder, then add orange zest and juice, mixing until just combined. Optionally fold in chocolate chips.
- Pour the filling into the cooled crust and bake for 55-60 minutes or until the center is set but slightly jiggly.
- Turn off the oven, crack the door open, and cool the cheesecake gradually for about 1 hour. Then transfer to room temperature and chill in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- To serve, remove the springform pan, slice and serve with whipped cream and orange slices or berries.
