Step-by-Step Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch round or bundt cake pan with butter or non-stick spray.
- Peel, core, and chop the apples into bite-sized pieces. Toss with cinnamon and a teaspoon of sugar, if desired.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together melted butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract for 2-3 minutes. Stir in yogurt or sour cream.
- In a separate bowl, sift together flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Carefully fold in the apple slices and chopped nuts.
- Pour the batter into the greased pan and bake for 50-60 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Cool the cake in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then turn it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
- Drizzle with caramel sauce or dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes
Choose a mix of sweet and tart apples for the best flavor balance. Don’t overmix the batter to keep the texture tender.
